Mineralogy / Petrography

In order to deliver quality concrete and mortars, its aggregates need to be analysed petrographically. A petrographer determines the mineralogy of the components, its hardness, the content of weak or deleterious components, i.e. porous aggregates, clay minerals, organic material, etc. The results then show whether the aggregate can be used for certain kinds of concrete or mortars or if there are any restrictions in use.
